A popular ocean-side resort since the Victorian era, Kilkee continues to charm visitors today with its idyllic location and passionate community. In light of the success of tourist developments such as the Wild Atlantic Way, Kilkee Council had identified an opportunity to similarly reinvigorate the identity of the town and surrounding areas with a brand initiative that would positively distinguish it a modern destination for visitors, locals and future inhabitants alike.
We worked with local business leaders and councillors, to help define the overarching framework for the identity, grounded in the future ambition to become a credible alternative for people to live in and build careers, alongside the established tourism aspect.
This ambition informed our design solution; a ‘hand-crafted’ logo that combined the coast, the land and the sea. This design was further used as a graphic device throughout the collateral and communications to ensure a fluent and consistent expression of the brand at every key touchpoint, from town wayfinding and website design, to sustainably sourced clothing.
